National Amateur Weather Society
Weather is fun, interesting, serious at times and always better when shared with other friendly folks. Coast to Coast Weather is about much more than just disseminating data and forecasts. As part of the National Amateur Weather Society (NAWS), we are providing tools that enable you to meet, make friends and interact with other weather enthusiasts, provide your local, real time weather observations, a forum to share your thoughts, ask questions, and most of all, share the experience of weather events as they unfolded.
Another community building component of NAWS is WXSpots - a free software program that enables you to provide "real time" weather observations and chat with other users as events happen. You may be thinking that with all the technology today, what you see outside your window isn't meaningful. Not so!
Lyle H. Willette writes:
"I am really looking forward to using this exciting new tool. I retired from the NWS with 28 years of service as a forecaster, and know the importance of real-time reports!"
But WXSpots is about much more than posting observations. You can meet other nice weather enthusiasts, both locally and across the US, easily join or create chat groups for specific locations and/or topics, and follow along with postings from wherever severe weather is happening!
That's not all. You don't need a home weather station to be a valuable observer on WXSpots, but if you have one, even better! WXSpots will constantly monitor the data from your weather station and automatically post when severe conditions occur at your home.
If you haven't already done so, please download and install WXSpots from www.wxspots.com. While you are there, be sure to download and install the free companion program, WXWarn too!
The forum that you'll find right here on Coast to Coast Weather is another community building tool. Your thoughts on upcoming weather or any weather topic, your weather questions and any information that you would like to share with our community are welcome and encouraged. Please be sure to click the Message Board link on your left and join in on the discussions!
The National Amateur Weather Society isn't a structured club with officers, bylaws, etc. It is an umbrella heading for the community concept of Coast To Coast Weather, WXSpots, our forum and any other tools that support community building and interaction of weather enthusiasts.
If you are friendly, welcoming, love weather and are eager to share that passion, congratulations, you are now an official member of the National Amateur Weather Society! Please stop in on WXSpots or the forum today and visit with your follow society members! If you like this concept, please tell a friend about it!
